Volunteer with Expecting Miracles

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our program. We are always in need of volunteers with a passion for serving women and children. Everyone from the teachers to the baby boutique assistants, volunteer their time to make this program a success.

As a faith-based non-profit we take volunteerism very seriously. We are dedicated to providing the best possible services to our clients and the keystone of that is choosing excellent volunteers and training them very well. In order to be a volunteer in the Expecting Miracles Program you must agree with our Statement of Faith, complete a volunteer application with references, have a one on one interview with the Program Director and pass a background check.

Long Term Volunteer Opportunities

  • Expecting Your Miracle Class Instructor: Do you have a passion for pregnancy, birth and babies? Are you the mentor-type who likes helping other mothers thrive? You can be one of our fantastic instructors and make a difference in the lives of families! No prior training or experience is required. We offer a mentoring approach to training our instructors. In order to teach our birth and baby preparation classes you must make a minimum year-long commitment to the program of 4-5 hours per week. We strongly prefer to train teachers who wish to make a multi-year commitment to the program.
    • Month 1 & 2: Observation... you will observe our Program Director teach an entire series, take notes and ask questions after each class. There is a required reading list you must complete during this time.
    • Month 3 & 4: Co-teaching... you will teach certain portions of each class that you feel most comfortable with and continue to observe the Program Director teach the other portions.
    • Month 5 & 6: Evaluation... you will teach an entire series while the Program Director observes you. Time for feedback and review is set aside after each class.
    • Months 7-12: You teach the class series independently. At the end of the year, your commitment to the program is finished and you can either choose to continue teaching as a volunteer or will be well on your way to pursuing certification as a childbirth educator.
  • Other Instructors: Do you have an idea for a different type of pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding or parenting related class? Our Program Director will work with you to develop a curriculum that fits our program and utilizes your skills. We ask all volunteer instructors to make a year-long commitment.
  • Baby Boutique Coordinator: In this volunteer position you will be overseeing the processing of material donations at the center. We receive baby & maternity items every day that must be sorted, cleaned and organized. This is also an opportunity to assist clients who come in to shop in the boutique, some still pregnant and many with their new babies! Daytime shifts only but time commitment is flexible.

Short Term Community Service

If you are a student in need of community service hours, we have volunteer opportunities for you! You must be in high school or college and provide a community service assignment letter from your teacher or school. If you are under the age of 18 you must also provide a written letter of permission from your parent/guardian to be in our facility without their supervision.

  • Class Assistant: These volunteers help check clients in for class, monitor shopping in the baby boutique and clean up after class. A class assistant shift is 6:30pm to 9:30pm on weeknights.
  • Baby Boutique Assistant: These volunteers assist our baby boutique coordinators with processing donations and organizing the boutique. This volunteer opportunity is only available on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons, length of time is flexible.
